    The principles of our action:

Each and every village is about to have its own bread, perfume, or old crafts museum. But oddly enough, in the midst of all this museum craze, nothing of importance seems to have been done to spare our sport culture from the damage of time. The urge to save what can be, will clearly appear to us while reading this article by ethnologist Christian Bromberger: " Sports clubs records are disappearing as equipments are being modernised, without anybody's concern. There is indeed a national Museum of Sports, but it merely displays shoes, outfits and bikes having belonged to the famous. Why would the village church, wine press, or old mill, whose study or even classification are quite rightly recommended, have more patrimonial dignity than the village football ground, a memory- place the villagers are usually so fond of ?

Do we have to wait until time has left its patina and all witnesses have died, to seriously consider an object and the words around it ? Or do we have to pay attention to the symbolic shapes in progress and the expression of their meaning, in order to allow future generations  to understand what we were ?

    Site Content

In this site we have  gathered a sample of our rich collection. The pictures and ancient photographs are numerous :  you may use them to illustrate your personal documents, or those of your association. The books, periodicals or archives are listed with details on the catalogue page. If you are interested by our archives, and you want more information, do not hesitate to contact us , or even visit us in Carpentras.

Do you want to join in with us in our work at the Conservatoire des Sports ?

There is a lot of work to be done, looking for any document related to the history of sports, or which can help understand it better. Documents of interest vary from old  pictures, papers, newspaper clips, press-books, clubs literature (brochures, calendars, etc).
Of course, our wish is not to dispossess the owners from their rare and  only copies ; Reprints or photocopies are as interesting to us, although they do not have the same value .
The statutes of our association automatically grant the donator free membership, for contributing to enlarging  our collection. So, be on the look out for  interesting documents, and do not hesitate to join us, any help is welcome
